Is it really a leak, or just a Florida summer?
Plenty of the calls we take turn out not to be leaks at all. - Mark the water level inside the bucket, and mark the pool's level on the outside.

The bucket and the pool evaporate at the same rate. If the pool has dropped clearly further than the bucket, the difference is not evaporation. What a pool leak usually turns out to be (and not be)
The picture in most owners' heads is a cracked shell and a jackhammered deck.
In our experience, the dramatic crack in the floor is the rare one. What we see on these calls is that the leak is usually small and usually on the plumbing side, at a fitting, a joint, a skimmer throat or a light niche, and usually nowhere near the spot the owner has been staring at.
Small also means findable without destruction. We pressure test the plumbing to prove which lines hold and which do not, and we use acoustic listening equipment to hear water escaping underground. Nothing gets opened on a hunch, because the guess is expensive and the test is not. You get the answer, and the exact cost of the fix, before any repair work begins.
What we see in Venice

Venice is one of the few cities on Florida's west coast that is not separated from the Gulf by a barrier island. Here the mainland meets the open water directly, with nothing in front of it.
What locals call Venice Island is not a barrier island at all. It is a piece of the mainland, reached by bridges over the artificially created Intracoastal Waterway.
The island is here at all only thanks to that waterway. The angular canal was excavated in the 1960s, and it created the island of Venice.
What we can tell you is that the honest version of local knowledge is knowing which parts of the postcard are engineered. The cut, the revetment, the bridges: all real, all irrelevant to where your pool is losing water. That answer lives at fittings and fixtures, and we find it by testing.
Venice was drawn to a plan before it was built. The Venezia Park Historic District is part of John Nolen's 1925 comprehensive plan for the city.
The housing here is genuinely mixed in age rather than all of one era. The 1970s is the biggest build decade in the city, 4,683 of 20,966 units, or about 22 percent. Roughly 8,747 units, about 42 percent, predate 1980, while 3,928 units, about 19 percent, went up in 2010 or later.
