As complex as pool leaks can be, it’s actually rather simple to determine if your pool is losing water. Conducting a bucket test will definitively tell you if it is just evaporation or a dreaded leak.
Know your evaporation rates.
Heated Pools:
1/4″ of loss per day*
Non-Heated Pools
1/8″ of loss per day*

Observe how weather effects your pool.
Temperature, Humidity, Exposure to wind, and extra water features can effect evaporation making you think you have a leak.
Hot weather does not mean more evaporation
Evaporation rates are effected by an imbalance in temperature and moisture in the air compared to the water. Hot weather means warm water, not extreme evaporation.
